We’re planning on playing Expressions Open Mic at the Artsbar in Wokingham on Sunday 6th February. The address is Artsbar, Cantley Lodge, Wellington Road, Wokingham, Berks, RG40 2AN

We have a new band member, Vadim on keyboards. We’re also hoping to play at Expression Open Mic at the Artsbar in Wokingham on Sunday 6th of February.

We had a good post-gig session: chilled out, wrote the basis of a new song – working title Anticipate, and worked on the bridge to Soon.

    This is how
    I was found
    I’ll tell you now
    So you you will know

I swing my arms around in a wide wide arc
To inscribe a circle but they make no mark
I search about me but they make no sign
Looking for a clue, a mark, that I might find

    Bounded by intangibility
Held by a bond that I can’t see
Knowing that you can’t set me free
    Oh Oh Oh Oh

To take a different viewpoint on the scene might help
You could try looking from up above if that makes sense
But how can we see what we do not know
How can we expect to feel when we do not show

So try to keep your eyes alive
To something new something different from the white
See something that you cannot have seen

When you told me what you’ve learned
I heard a waver in the timbre of your voice.
Your words released, fell on my ear
Ragged, jagged and dusted with fear.

The full span of your treatment plan
    had yet to be disclosed.
But you seemed to already understand
That worst may come to worst.

    Can you ready yourself?
Can you steel your resolve while you go through the motions?
    Can you steady yourself?
Can you find the strength to process these emotions

You write between lines of candour
While they sedate and baseline scan you
After shock, you’ll next “do anger”
Because the book says you’re supposed to

You agonised and awaited full diagnosis
And all the while you grapple with pains
And you reach out to those of us that know this
    Speculating on what time remains

    Can you ready yourself?
Can you steel your resolve while you go through the motions?
    Can you steady yourself?
Can you find the strength to process these emotions

    Oh, no no no no.
You never chose the easy way out

    Oh no, no no no.
    You paced the night throughout

You’ll break it to me gently

That I may witness your demise

Then you’ll ask me so intently

Why the tears fill up my eyes

I will rebel and reject your farewell

For what it’s worth, I will rise

And raise my glass to white blood cells

‘Cause I just don’t do goodbyes

    Damn it, Ready yourself

I’ll appeal your ordeal ’till you see you’re the wrong one

    For my sake, steady yourself

This is all too surreal, don’t you say there’s no long run.

    No, steady yourself.

    5th December 2010

Well we had a great time. The audience preferred our more up-tempo songs and the headline band DisCover were very kind to us.

    Our set list was

    First Set
    Somersault
    Rain it Down
    Sour Times
    Circle of Steel
    Walls
    Steady Yourself
    Caramel
    Calling You
    Home
    I Remember
    Mini Set
    Mountains Of Things
    Uninvited
    Then you Came to Call
    Dakota

On the whole it was a good learning experience. Now it’s time to reflect and regroup.

More covers, this time Dakota by Stereophonics and Home by Zero 7.

That’s probably enough material for our upcoming gig.

We’ve incorporated some more covers: I remember by Deadmau5 and You Can’t Hurry Love by The Supremes

Now we’ve got loads more rehearsing to do before we’re ready to take them all out.
